Maid dies saving baby girl

How many of you are willing to lay your life down just for an outsider?

It's certainly heart wrenching yet heartwarming to know that an outsider is willing to lay her life down for someone else's. That's the power of love.

An Indonesian maid, Ms Puji Astutik, was crossing the road with her employer's one-year-old daughter when the accident happened. She flung the baby girl forward in order to save her. The SMRT bus did not come to a halt but instead pinned Ms Puji under the wheels. She was rushed to the National University Hospital but was pronounced dead after sustaining severe injuries. The baby girl, on the other hand, only suffered minor scratches on her left arm. Ms Puji was a friendly maid who never fails to greet her neighbours every time they meet.

Now back to the question: To risk your life for someone with no blood relation, is it worth it?

Certainly it is, and that's what I call love. For a maid so noble to sacrifice her life for someone she's working for is certainly a magnanimous act.

I've never had a maid before. My mom is hesitant to employ a helper because she takes care of the household chores herself. Moreover, the many negative reports on irresponsible and lazy maids, maids who abuse the children, and maids who steal only fueled my mom’s unwillingness to employ maids. This however, could change once my mom reads this article!

To be honest , because of the negative reports of maids that we sometimes read in the news is making my parents hesitate to have a maid to handle our household chores . Well , if we compare positive and negattive news that we get to read in the news regarding maids , I'm sure we all agree that most of the time we read news regarding maids being the victims of violence , and hardly any news on "Maid saves the day" . This news that yyuo brought up is really interesting and eye-opening for our parents , kelly (:
